THE “crime of the century” has been committed (实施) in Paris!
Four men tunneled (挖地道) into the vaults (金库) of a Paris bank and got away with over 22 million pounds (229 million yuan) of cash and jewelry.
They started by digging in a neighboring cellar (地窖) before using flamethrowers (火焰喷射器) and pickaxes (镐) to break through the 31 inch (79cm) walls to the vaults.
The vaults were closed for refurbishment (装修), so once inside they had “a leisurely time breaking open the deposit boxes,” police said.
