At the beginning of every new year, it is very typical __1__ (make) new year’s resolutions. However, do they really work?
Personally, I don’t think so.Firstly, it is great to start the new year with good __2__ (intend) and a positive attitude, as it can bring more hope and happiness to the start of your year. However, when life __3__ (be) back into full flow of routine and normality after January, the perseverance (毅力) of __4__ (write) a diary for example can wear off.
Secondly, we often choose the most unrealistic goals as resolutions under the false assumption that we can just “be a(n) __5__ (complete) different person” in the new year.In reality, changes happen in small steps over time, so why __6__ take a step back and think of something we can benefit from?
For example, let’s simply set some achievable goals: smile more at strangers, laugh at least twice a day, write a positive thing __7__ has happened to you during the day, no matter __8__ simple they are.Through these small gestures, you will better __9__ (you) on the inside and outside.Let’s take the pressure away __10__ attempting to be a new me but make a great effort to be a better me!
