【点拨】attend在句中用作动词，意为“照料，护理”。如：
Although he was slightly injured, his sons asked 5 nurses to attend him.
【拓展】attend 意义和用法较为丰富，请看：
①Many scientists attended the important international conference held in Geneva. (v.参加，出席)②The father told her daughter to attend to her writing and she did so. (v.专心于，努力于)
③Every night Mary could attend carefully to the story her mother told and recite it fluently.

另外，注意attend, join, take part in, join in, join sb. in (doing) sth.的区分：
（1）attend指参加会议，婚礼，典礼，上学，上课，听报告等较为正式的场合。
（2）join指加入某组织或团体，成为其中的一员。
（3）take part in指参加某项活动并在其中发挥作用。（part前有修饰语是要有不定冠词）
（4）join in指参加某种活动，有时可以与take part in互换，但join in后不接会议。
（5）join sb. in (doing) sth.表示与某人一起做某事。
